The grounds of Kaua’i Community College (KCC) will be filled with students this morning, but not with college-aged individuals, instead, the best high school cross country athletes from around the state will convene at the Puhi facility for the HHSAA/Honolulu Marathon State Cross Country Championships.
The event begins at 9 a.m., near the Kilohana Carriage House. This is the first year that both boys and girls will be competing in a 3-mile race. Kaua’i’s top contenders are Waimea’s Scott Martin and Kaua’i’s Chelsea Smith-Wishard. The Red Raider girls and the Kapa’a boys will be representing the KIF.
