Erika Steiner is having a banner year in surfing, as she leads in two events in the H.S.F. Kaua‘i rankings, after three events.
Steiner is the only surfer on the island who heads up two categories. She remains in first-place in both the girls 17-and-under and longboard divisions.
Following Steiner in the 17-and-under shortboard are Alana Blanchard, Malia Manuel, Leila Hurst, and older sister Kristen.
Steiner leads Hurst, Manuel, her older sister Kristen, and Blanchard in the longboard contest.
Dylan Goodale holds a slim advantage over Koa Smith, Luke Hitchcock, Kaikea Elias, and Nathan Cavalho in the boys 12-14 competition.
Koa Smith tops the menehune 11-and-under list over Mana Medeiros, Elias, Hitchcock, and Christian Graham.
Results still pending include the following competitions: In the junior men’s 15-17 contest, Tyler Newton leads Nathan Rex, Ke‘ale Chung, Alex Smith, and Aaron Swanson.
Rex holds down the top spot in the open men’s 18-24 division, with Swanson, Newton, Kyle Ramey, and Robert Hennessy rounding out the top five.
Travis Smith leads Etienne Trillo, Travis Iwata, Ansen Achuara, and Nainoa Place in the junior bodyboarding 15-17 competition.
Smith’s also on top in the boys bodyboarding 14-and-under contest, with Trillo, Justin Snyder, James Gilleran, and Michael Sylva following up.
Ruben Balmores, Alex Smith, Dylan Melamed, Titus Kanehe, and Chung round out the top five in the G.I.B. (Garden Island Brotherhood) 4-A Series.
Russell Lewis and Dwayne Akau, along with Craig Balmores, Charles Smith, and Les Tabuchi battle for the senior men 35-and-over title.
The H.S.F. Kaua‘i’s fourth contest heads to Kealia Beach on March 18-19 (March 25-26, alternate dates).
