Kaua’i fighters ready to battle in Hanapepe

The highly popular Garden Isle Mixed Martial Arts Cage Matches have sold out the first two events and the third event is promised to be the biggest and best so far.

“This is going to be an event talked about for months,” event coordinator Vance Pascua said.

On March 26 at Hanapepe Stadium, numerous Kaua’i fighters will get a taste of what fighting in the outdoors is like, with the match breaking ground by being the first-ever outdoor MMA event on the island.

In the meantime, the first-ever women’s MMA contest on Kaua’i features Kapa’a’s A.J. Jenkins duking it out against Arizona’s Mystee Blackwood.

Eben Kaneshiro highlights the Kaua’i contingent, who will wage war against former Kalaheo resident Gabe Legacy, who’s now a fight promoter in Las Vegas and promises to bring the best of the desert to the Garden Isle.

A special weighin and autograph session is scheduled to rock Kuku’i Grove’s Center Stage on March 24. MMA stars planned to attend the autograph session include Kimo Leopoldo, Kit Cope, Robbie Lawler, Jens Pulver, Niko Vitale, and Anthony Torres.

General admission tickets are $25 and $30 at the door. Ringside seats are available for $35.

Tickets can be purchased at Meyvn Skate in Lihu’e, Tropical Tantrum in Kapa’a, Dynamic Tinting in Puhi, Sweet and Sassy in ‘Ele’ele, Westside Sporting Goods in Waimea, M&H Service in Waimea, and Wong’s Restaurant in Hanapepe.

Doors for the event open at 6 p.m.
