Anthony Zamecnik, 20, of Lihu‘e, was sentenced to a five-year term of probation by Judge George Masuoka for promoting a detrimental drug, according to prosecutors.
Special conditions of Zamecnik’s probation include him serving 15 days in jail, paying a $1,000 fine, participating in a drug-treatment program, undergoing drug testing, and payment of court fees, prosecutors said.
Zamecnik entered a guilty plea to the felony offense on Dec. 5, 2005. Zamecnik was arrested by police after he picked up a package containing over a pound of marijuana from the Lihu‘e post office on May 13, 2005.
Police followed Zamecnik after he picked up the box, arrested him, and questioned Zamecnik about his knowledge of the contents of the box, according to prosecutors. Zamecnik admitted to police that he knew the box contained marijuana, according to prosecutors.
• Uriah Stolze, 31, of Kapa‘a, was sentenced to a five-year term of probation by Masuoka for promoting a dangerous drug, according to prosecutors.
Special conditions of Stolze’s probation include him serving 13 days in jail (the equivalent of time he already spent in jail for this offense), performing 300 hours of community-service work, participation in a drug-treatment program, undergoing drug testing, and paying court fees.
Stolze entered a guilty plea to the felony offense on Dec. 8, 2005. Stolze was arrested by police after police recovered illegal drugs at his Kapa‘a home which was searched after Stolze accepted a parcel containing illegal drugs, according to prosecutors.
• Robert Sherman, 37, of Kilauea, was re-sentenced by Masuoka to a new, five-year term of probation, and ordered to serve one year in jail as a condition of probation for theft, prosecutors said.
Sherman may reduce the time he serves in jail by successfully completing a residential-drug-treatment program. Sherman was originally sentenced to probation for the felony offense on Dec. 11, 2003, after he pled guilty to taking over $300 worth of merchandise from Sears without paying for it in December 2002, according to prosecutors.
Prosecutors filed a motion to revoke Sherman’s probation after his probation officer reported that Sherman tested positive for methamphetamine use, and failed to contact a drug-treatment- program representative as directed, prosecutors said.
• Duchess Boro, 41, of Hanalei, was sentenced by Masuoka to five years probation for unlawful use or possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia, according to prosecutors.
Special conditions of Boro’s probation include her serving 30 days in jail, submitting to drug testing, and paying court fees, prosecutors said.
Boro was arrested on June 11, 2005 when a glass smoking pipe containing methamphetamine residue was found in her possession as she went through the metal detector at Lihu‘e Airport, prosecutors said.
• John Pavao, 51, of Kapa‘a, was sentenced by Watanabe to a five-year term of probation for terroristic threatening, prosecutors said.
Special conditions of Pavao’s probation include him completing 500 hours of community-service work, and paying a $1,000 fine, according to prosecutors.
Pavao pled guilty to the felony offense on Nov. 28, 2005. Police arrested Pavao on May 6, 2004, after he threatened an officer who stopped him for traffic violations, prosecutors said.
• Wesley Villon, 28, of Kapaa, was sentenced by Chief Judge Masuoka to a five year term of probation for Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the Third Degree. Special conditions to Villon’s probation include serving 66 days in jail (the equivalent of time Villon already served while this case was pending), submitting to a substance abuse evaluation and completing the recommended treatment, submitting to drug testing, and payment of court fees. Villon entered his guilty plea to the offense on January 9, 2006. Police arrested Villon on July 12, 2005 after executing a search warrant on Villon’s residence and vehicle. Officers recovered two glass smoking pipes containing methamphetamine residue, a red straw with methamphetamine residue, and a plastic packet with more methamphetamine residue in Villon’s possession.
