LIHU’E — A Fifth Circuit Court judge will have to wait for the results of a mental examination of a Hanama’ulu man accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 14.
Reynaldo Coloma’s mental examination by three doctors was not ready for Judge Kathleen N.A. Watanabe to look at on March 13.
Coloma’s attorney, Gilbert Kea, pointed out that one doctor’s report out of three reports is ready.
Watanabe set a hearing for March 28 to al low for more time for the remaining two doctors to turn in their reports to the court.
Coloma, 53, pleaded not guilty last year to counts of kidnapping, six counts of sexual assault, three counts of attempted sexual assault, and three counts of harassment.
According to the five-page indictment, the allegations took place between 1997 and 2002.
Coloma is being held at the Kauai Community Correctional Center in Wailua on $80,150 bail.
Kea was appointed by a judge to represent Coloma last June.
An attorney in the state Office of the Public Defender withdrew from the case because the alleged minor-accuser is related to a member of the office’s staff.
