United States Rep. Ed Case, D-Neighbor Islands-rural O‘ahu, is on Kaua‘i for back-to-back-to-back, talk-story meetings, Saturday.
He will be at the Waimea Neighborhood Center from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the Kapa‘a Elementary School cafeteria from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., and at Wilcox Elementary School from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.
“My talk-story meetings are indispensable opportunities for me to interact one-on-one with those I represent, and to address the concerns they face in our communities every day,” Case said in a press release.
“In my next round, I want to discuss national issues such as our federal budget, foreign affairs including Iraq and Iran, domestic surveillance, federal assistance to Hawai‘i, and a host of others,” said Case.
“I also want to answer questions and just listen, as the feedback I’ve received from people who participated in my prior 129 talk stories over the past three years have helped me refine my legislative agenda and efforts and to stay connected in one of the most diverse and far-flung congressional districts in our nation.”
Case’s meetings have been held at Kalaupapa, Moloka‘i, and Hana, Maui, Na‘alehu and Waiohinu on the Big Island, Waimea and Hanalei on Kaua‘i, and on the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s ship Hi‘ialakai at sea in the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands, which he represents.
The nation’s capital will be the site of a second Case talk story. He hosted a talk story last April, and will do so again next month, in Washington, D.C., where many Hawai‘i residents work.
Case’s talk-story sessions have also been held for Hawai‘i troops deployed to the Mainland and overseas.
“Two of my talk stories were held with Hawaii National Guard and Reserve troops attached to the 29th Brigade Combat Team. The first was at Fort Polk, Louisiana on January 24, 2005, while they prepared for deployment to Iraq, and the second was with the same troops seven months later in Balad, Iraq,” said Case.
