KALAHEO — The Gee Unit A fired a perfect 22 for 22 from the charity line en route to taking a 47-33 showing over C-Town as the county entered its schedule of makeup games resulting from the recent rains.
Kekoa Prem, going 11/11 from the line, added a pair of treys to his game-high 21-point total for the Unit A. Thomas Gausepohl weaved his way through tall traffic in the paint to finish with 22 points, including a 6/6 showing at the stripe.
Koa Calipano sparked the C-Town effort with 10 points, followed by Silas Tacsiat and Austin Simao adding seven and six points respectively.
In the second contest played Thursday night at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center, Wailua got 14 points from John Delos Santos to lead their 47-29 win over the Gee Unit B.
Trevor Locquiuo and Davin Chong each finished with eight points for Wailua.
Donovan Harrison, one of the smaller players on the court in game two, led the Gee Unit B effort with a dozen markers, followed by Joe Duronslet finishing with eight points.
Bloodline, who took an earlier 34-21 win against Eastside in the Wednesday game, took the forfeit from the Hornets, who failed to show by the end of the officials’ allotted time.
Kaleo Cummings finished with 13 points in their Wednesdy win for Bloodline with Mark Sante adding 11 points.
BJ Melchor and Keane-Shane Agoot led the Eastside effort with nine and five points respectively.
The Gee Unit B took Wednesday’s second game by forfeit over the Hornets, who did not have the minimum amount of players to start the game, league officials said.
Nikko Chow and Colipano each fired 10 points for C-Town in their 46-37 showing over Wailua in the Wednesday finale.
Tacsiat and Simao followed with seven points each in the win.
Cody Abigania led the Wailua effort with a game-high 13 points with Stephan Greenleaf, Delos Santos, and Chong each finishing with six points apiece.
Lihu’e’s Ariola cards an ace
Lihu’e’s Clarence Ariola Jr. nailed a hole-in-one at Puakea Golf Course’s fourth hole (141 yards). He used an 8-iron and his witnesses were Shane Naumu, Justin Kinoshita, and Kainoa Numazawa.
Mickelson keeps gaining momentum
DULUTH, Ga. — Phil Mickelson is quickly gaining momentum for the Masters.
Mickelson shot a 65 to take a commanding six-stroke lead after the second round of the BellSouth Classic.
One day after matching the course record with a first-round 63, Mickelson was 7 under in the second round to set a tournament record for 36 holes at 16-under 128.
The PGA record for most strokes under par through four rounds on a par-72 course is 29 under by Joe Durant in the 2001 Bob Hope Classic.
Mickelson is on pace to finish at 32-under 256.
