Mahea Hanie-Grace finished with eight points, Maile Dreir added six and Lauren Claypoole contributed five as the Gee’s Angels edged Wailua 25-21 in the first of four games played Saturday in the ZZ Youth Basketball League Girls 14 and Under division.
Jodi Das ended with a game-high 10 points and Victoria Tuttle added seven to lead the Wailua effort.
Three Kaulupono B girls finished in double-digits as Kaulupono B topped Wailua 43-17 in the second game Wailua played at the Kaua‘i High School gym.
Joanna Andres had a game-high 13 points in the win, with Bree-ann Cox-Abuan and Jayme Jacinto each chipping in 10 points.
Tuttle had the high point honors for Wailua with eight and Das added five.
Southside’s Braxton Garma exploded for 26 points in their 71-59 win over the Breakaway in the first of two Boys 16 and Under games. Tyrus Ceria-Lux added 22 points for Southside.
Jeremy Robinson and Travis Stine led Breakaway with a dozen points apiece, with Tino Ramos and Lester Alacar notching 10 and nine points, respectively.
McDonald Alop finished with nine points to lead Westside to a 49-37 victory over the Lakers in the day’s finale.
James Sagucio added seven points for Westside with Mark Guirao and Micah Moriwake each contributing six.
Darren Lapitan finished with a game-high 12 points to lead the Lakers, followed by Ian Lactaotao and Taylor Bell chipping in 10 and eight points, respectively.
