A man who reported being attacked by a shark off Ke‘e Beach Tuesday morning on the North Shore actually suffered a seizure, Kaua‘i authorities said.
The man, whose name was not released, was treated by medical personnel at the beach and refused additional treatment at Wilcox Memorial Hospital.
County Ocean Safety supervisor Kalani Vierra said authorities initially received a call about a shark attack after 11 a.m., but determined otherwise.
“No one was bitten,” Vierra said.
Water safety officers and the firefighters from the Hanalei Fire Station brought the man safely back to shore, said battalion chief Russell Yee.
