Hats off to June Akuna for setting up another successful Waimea High School career day. Stu Burley hadn’t even caught his breath from the Sunday technology fair, but was back in Waimea for the career day as was Johnny Michael (he had help from Tom Clements on Sunday, but not Wednesday).
Chef Martina Hilldorfer (she said she was inside the kitchen all Sunday for the ACF Breakfast) had some Waimea High graduates on hand for their presentation, and Jane Garma (what class, again?) did a good job pulling together the Syngenta and Pioneer crews. Of course, the popcorn smelled really good, and if there was more time, I could’ve checked out the Jojo’s Anuenue, too (that comes this weekend).
Kudos, too, to Major Victor Aguilar and the Waimea Junior ROTC for pulling through whenever there’s work to be done … I’m sure they’ll be at the Waimea Town Celebration this weekend as well.
Chris Fayé is getting ready for the Waimea Town Celebration and trying to figure out how to get to all the different events in one day — let me know when the vendor for fried Twinkies comes in.
Meanwhile, Dave Walker will be with the West Kaua‘i Rotary Club and is already looking ahead to the Rotary Track Meet coming up real soon … how many years, Dave?
Carrie Carlin of Stryker Weiner & Yokota Public Relations was impressed with the turnout of Kaua‘i police officers for the AIG Hawai‘i Hot Spots program Wednesday at Wilcox.
Robin Campaniano, the AIG Hawai‘i president and CEO, has roots here since he went to school at Wilcox for two months, and has relatives on the Westside. He said his wife has relatives out on the Eastside so it’s an all-island family.
