The Kauai Shotokan Karate-Do recently hosted the visit of Francis Fong, Hanshi. After a two-hour training seminar, a handful of students were tested for advancement in the art of karate. The training included physical practice of the three elements which constitute the body of karate training; namely, “Kihon” (basics), “Kumite” (sparring), and “Kata” (form).
Those tested were Rene Relacion (1st kyu), Sean Head (8th kyu), Angelei Star (9th kyu), Sakile Frazier (9th kyu), Jake Rose (9th kyu), and Christian Salibi (9th kyu).
Kauai Shotokan Karate-Do offers classes for all levels at the Kauai Athletic Club in Lihu‘e. For information, call S. Kamal Salibi at 639-0770.

Officials for the Koloa Pop Warner announced yesterday that they are looking for cheer coaches for the 2007 season.
