Due to the overwhelming response to Casey Watabu’s golf tournament fund-raiser this Sunday, entries will no longer be accepted. Golfers who have already submitted entry forms and are participating, are expected to report to the Wailua Golf Course no later than 6:15 a.m.

JO softball league to hold a meeting
There will be an organizational meeting of the Kauai Girls Junior Olympics Softball League to be held tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
Topics of discussion will be the upcoming season schedule, rules, age divisions, league administration and team registration. All prospective coaches, administrators and those interested in the program should attend. The league is open to girls aged 18 and under as of January 01, 2007.

Be an official, officially
There will be an officials clinic put on by the USA Track and Field Association, held on March 17. It’s a clinic for those interested in being a certified track and field official.
Longtime Hawai‘i and former Olympic track official Gordon Scruton will conduct the clinic starting at 9 p.m. at Kaua‘i High School. Organizers will use the Mayor Invitational track meet, that same day, at 2 p.m. as the practical site of the class.

Swim Fest
starts next week
The 2007 Swim Fest held by Mokihana Aquatics starts March 19 and runs through the end of the month. A swim camp, a learn to swim program and beginner/non-swimmer lessons are all part of the 2007 Swim Fest. The two-week swim camp is an introduction to competitive swimming.
University of Hawai‘i men’s swim coach Victor Wells will be the special guest.
Wells will critique swimmers through video analysis and stroke techniques sessions. The learn-to-swim program is open to all swimmers from beginner, intermediate and advanced. This two-week course starts the beginners with an introduction to the five major swim strokes.
The intermediate program progresses to the five advanced strokes. Advanced swimmers perfect all strokes and gain swimming endurance. All instructors are certified aquatic managers and are USA swim certified.

Captain Cook Caper run results announced
After sifting through 247 runners’ times, the results of the Captain Cook Caper Race, held in conjunction with the Waimea Town Celebration last month, were announced.
