Waimea High School senior Noel Torres finished ninth when dust from the David S. Ishii Foundation state boys golf championship settled at the Waikoloa Kings golf course Wednesday.
Torres was joined by Kaua‘i High School sophomore Wiley Yoshioka who finished at 15th for an individualist medal.
The Menehune golfer finished the two-day tournament at 148 with five other golfers. Yoshioka finished the tournament at 149, tying two other golfers.
Other KIF golfers participating included Levi Miyashiro (157), Jett Levinthol of Kapa‘a (164) who tied with Cory Oride of Kaua‘i. Both golfers were a stroke ahead of Kaua‘i’s Nikko Tacsiat who finished at 165.
Bronzen Winters of Kapa‘a carded a two-day 166, a stroke ahead of Kaua‘i’s Jordan Cox.
In team play, Kaua‘i finished sixth with a 317 total. Kamehameha-Kapalama topped the team competition with a 292.
Individually, Sean Maekawa of Honokaa finished four strokes ahead of T.J. Kua, playing for Kamehameha-Kapalama.
