In observance of King Kamehameha Day, county, state and public offices on Kaua‘i will be closed Monday and road closures are scheduled June 16 in Lihu‘e for the parade.
All refuse transfer stations, Kekaha Landfill and Garden Isle Disposal Bottle Redemption Center will be closed Monday. Residential refuse pickup will continue as scheduled.
Public libraries will be closed. In addition, some libraries will have different schedules due to the holiday. Visit www.librarieshawaii.org for public service hours or call your local library.
The Kaua‘i bus will be operating on a modified schedule Monday. For more information, call 241-6410.
The annual Kamehameha Day Parade is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. June 16. The parade route will start at Vidinha Stadium on Ho‘olako Street, turn right onto Rice Street and end at the Historic County Building on Eiwa Street.
The Kaua‘i Police Department will close off county streets along the parade route from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., including Eiwa Street, Rice Street at the top of Haleko Street all the way to the intersection of Kapule Highway/Rice Street and all feeder roads to Rice Street. Parking lots adjacent to the parade route will also be closed to vehicle traffic attempting to exit the parking lots.
Motorists will need to seek alternate routes to get to their destinations during the parade. For more information on the road closures, call 241-6300.
