Ah Sau Ahana
Ah Sau Ahana of Lihu‘e died on Feb. 24, 2008, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 100. Born on Dec. 19, 1907, he was a retired deputy auditor and deputy finance director for the county of Kaua‘i for 48 years. He was also known as Kaua‘i’s best Hawaiian music steel guitar player for over half a century. He was a proprietor of Ahana Motel & Apartments.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary E. Ahana; daughter Joyce Watanabe; and grandchild Garrett Shiets.
He is survived by daughters Carol (Edwin) Kondo of Honolulu, Janice Shiets of Kane‘ohe, Eli Kikuchi of Lihu‘e; grandchildren Eric Kondo, Keith Kondo, Joni (Harold) Tanaka, Laurie (Richard) Apiki, Wanda (Wesley) Toyama, Kevin Watanabe, Lianne Watanabe, Ross Watanabe of Honolulu, Kent (Lori) Kikuchi of Lihu‘e, and Keri (Ben) Kobayashi of Hilo; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit the family from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 8, at Lihu‘e First Hawaiian Church where services will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow. Casual attire is suggested.

Anthony “Boy” Mata
Anthony “Boy” Mata of Waimea died Feb. 29, 2008, at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 52. Born Sept. 22, 1955, in Hawai‘i, he worked in the food service industry.
He is survived by wife Kawailana Kaohi-Mata; sons Jovan (Christine) Mata, Kalae Mata and Laakea Kaululaau; daughters Jory (Taz) Mata-Atamian and Kauakea (Kaua Boy) Mata; five grandchildren; hanai daughter Kanani Mata; mother Yolanda (Hale) Hauki; brother Brian (Madonna) Mata; sisters Mona (Scott) Mata, Iwalani (Kimeona) Kanaulu and Kehau Mata; and numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorial services will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 8, at 9875 Kahakai Road in the Waimea family residence, beachside. Casual attire is suggested.

Victoria Lynn Farthing
Victoria Lynn Farthing of Newport News, Va., and formerly of Lihu‘e and Honolulu, died on Feb. 26, 2008, at the age of 53. She was born December 29, 1954, on Kaua‘i.
She graduated from Kaua‘i High School and attended University of Hawaii-Manoa and Thomas Nelson Community College in Virginia.
She was preceded in death by father R. M. “Jack” Reynolds Sr. and mother Bernice A. Reynolds Takenaka.
She is survived by daughters Aubrey (Jim) Crouch and Summer Schrader; son Steven Farthing; brother Russell M. (Wendy) Rey-nolds; sister Dorothy L. (Rodney) Reynolds-Yadao; four grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnephews, grandnieces, aunts, uncles and extended family of Kaua‘i, O‘ahu and Japan.
Graveside services will begin at 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 9 at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.
