From the time-consuming security checks to the dwindling amenities to the cramped quarters, there’s no shortage of reasons to become frustrated at the airport.
For most, the hassles are unavoidable — especially when a business meeting, sporting event or relative awaits on another island.
But if money is no object, there’s a way to island hop in style.
Princeville Resort owner and operator The Resort Group has launched Hawai‘i’s only interisland private jet service, Resort Air. What began two and a half years ago as a charter service for corporate clientele on an exclusive basis is now being offered to the broader market.
The service, described as a “jet limo,” is aimed at VIPs who appreciate — and can afford — the private hangar, full concierge service and immediate take-offs.
Chris Ferarra, director of operations and head pilot at Resort Air, said the service saves executives time and provides access to smaller airports on all the major islands.
“The efficient nature of this mode of travel is often vital to local and Mainland businesses,” Ferarra said.
Resort Air serves Hawai‘i’s major airports as well as small airstrips such as Princeville, Hana Airport on Maui, O‘ahu’s Dillingham Airfield and Kalaeloa Airport, and Big Island’s Kamuela Airport.
A 24-hour concierge service accommodates requests such as flight reservations, limousine transportation, luggage handling, recreation activities and resort accommodations.
Resort Air has a private hangar and lounge at the Honolulu Airport as well as a business center.
The eight-passenger, turbine-powered Citation II, a Cessna corporate jet, features overstuffed executive leather seats to a sound dampening interior for a quiet ride.
Resort Air pilots attend mandatory Flight Safety International training courses and the company operates under FAA Part 135 regulations. It is a member of the National Business Aviation Association.
Charter rates are based on time flown, with minimum charges per 24-hour period. Discounts are available for frequent flyers.
