Emily Helen Costa-Ayres Souza of Hilo died on April 21, 2008, at the age of 69. Born Feb. 9, 1939, in Kaua‘i, she was a loving companion, mother, grandmother, aunty and sister.
She was preceded in death by husband SFC (Ret) Frank “Bilko” Souza and son Frank Souza Jr.
She is survived by daughter Francine Souza; companion Benjamin “Gentle Ben” Toro; sons Francis (Adeline) Souza and Franklin Souza; sisters Henrietta Orsatelli of Kaua‘i, Mildred Silva of Kaua‘i, Myrtle Fernando of Idaho, Hazel Fipes of California and Virginia Rapozo; brother William Costa of California; grandsons Joshua, Vincent and Anthony Souza.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday, May 5, at Mililani Mortuary Makai Chapel, wake service at 6:30 p.m., and from 9 a.m. on Tuesday, May 6, at St. Joseph Church where Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m.; burial will take place at 11:30 a.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific. The family requests aloha attire and welcomes flowers.
Mililani Memorial Park Mortuary is handling the arrangements.
