The preliminary hearing in the attempted murder case relating to a May 15 incident at Kapa‘a’s Fujii beach was continued for the second time yesterday.
Joshua Sesco, 29, of Kapa‘a, was arrested on May 16 on suspicion of stabbing 49-year-old Kapa‘a resident Curtis Bupp II, and was originally scheduled to appear in court on May 21.
The preliminary hearing was first postponed until yesterday, and is now scheduled for June 25. Sesco will remain in police custody with bail set at $500,000.
Defense attorney Daniel Hempey and First Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Christopher Bridges will continue to investigate the circumstances of the incident and work on an agreement, according to a source familiar with the case.
In a separate May 15 event, 21-year-old Curtis Bupp III was arrested for fourth-degree criminal property damage. It remains to be seen if the cases are related.
Meanwhile, Aerial Star, the 23-year-old suspect in a May 16 Hanalei stabbing, formally pled not guilty to second-degree attempted murder and second-degree assault in Circuit Court on Tuesday.
The trial is scheduled to begin July 21.
