Mildred Tamashiro of Kapa’a died March 21, 2009, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 69. She was born May 1, 1939, in Kekaha.
She was preceded in death by husband Masao Tamashiro, parents Joaquin and Martina C. Rita, brothers Raymond C. Rita and Manuel C. Rita, and sisters Mary Ching and Gladys C. Rita.
She is survived by sons Timothy (Eleanor) Rita, Roy Rita, Michael (Val) Rita, Russell (Alma Rosa) Rita and Robert Rita, all of Kapa‘a; daughter Mildred (Robert) Wills of Kapa‘a; sister Dorothy C. Rita of Kapa’a; 20 grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation 9-10 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, at Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo; Mass at 10 a.m.

Wayne Leslie gunning died March 20, 2009, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 64. Born May 8, 1944, in Vestal, N.Y., he was a U.S. Navy veteran and retired tennis director at Poipu Kai Resort.
He was preceded in death by parents Fred Gunning and Juanita Ludington.
He is survived by wife Debbie Gunning of Koloa; son Jon (Meredith) Gunning of Vestal, N.Y.; stepsons Sean Head of Lawa‘i and Andrew Head of Danville, Calif.; sisters Catherine Soleto and Diane (Larry) Koch; brothers Dale (Theresa) Gunning and Glenn Ludington; cousin Connie Lightner, all of Vestal N.Y.; mother-in-law Harriot Siegrist of Danville, Calif.; sister-in-law Pamela Arata of Kapa‘a; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 27, at Koloa Union Church; service at 3 p.m.

Jean Ann Madigan of Hanapepe died March 16, 2009, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 66. Born March 18, 1942, in Fort Wayne, Ind., she was a housewife.
She was preceded in death by father Leo Houser, mother Esther (Roussey) Houser and brother Donald Houser.
She is survived by Kimberly Tanigawa (Errol) of Hanapepe; Mark Madigan of Minnesota, Minn.; sisters Carol Wilch, Mary Ellen (LeRoy) Ratliff, Janet (Richard) Love and Patricia (Timothy) Kerlin, all of Fort Wayne, Ind.; grandchildren Thomas, Michael and Kahai Tanigawa of Hanapepe, and Cody and Liane Madigan of Waimea; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Stephen Wowkanyn
Stephen Wowkanyn of Hanalei died March 8, 2009, in Linden, N.J., at age 41. Born March 28, 1967, in Elizabeth, N.J., he was the manager of Evolve Gallery.
He was preceded in death by father Edward Wowkanyn and sister Lynn Wowkanyn.
He is survived by mother Mary Wowkanyn, brother Edward Wowkanyn and sister Stephanie (Matthew) Schwartz.
A farewell celebration will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, at the Hanalei Pavilion; a prayer circle will be held at 4 p.m. with a potluck to follow and kanikapila all day.
Max Agor
Max Agor of Lawa‘i died March 22, 2009, at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital at age 18. Born Feb. 26, 1991, in Lihu‘e, he was a student at Waimea High School.
He is survived by girlfriend Taryn Makalea Chow; son Kailer Kaheleikealapono Chow-Agor; parents Bert Sr. and Vicki Agor; brothers Bert Jr. (Christine) of Anaheim, Calif., and Evan Patrick of Lawa‘i; paternal grandmother Esther Agor of Kekaha; maternal grandparents Irvin and Mary Beth Eichenseer of Belleville, Ill.; uncle Bernie Agor of Kekaha; and numerous uncles, aunties, nieces, nephews, cousins, coaches, teammates and friends.
Visitation 12:30-3:30 p.m. on Monday, March 30, at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Kekaha; Mass at 3:30 p.m. Dinner to follow immediately after Mass at 8051 Ulili St. in Kekaha.

Juanita Sulquiano Andam Gallegos of Kaumakani and Niceville, Fla., died Feb. 24, 2009, at Emerald Coast Center at age 85. She was born Nov. 24, 1923, in Sidiran Dingras, Ilocos Norte, Philippines.
She was preceded in death by husband Elpidio Gallegos.
She is survived by sons Hillie Gallegos of Killeen, Texas, and Rod (Gina) Gallegos of Niceville, Fla.; grandchildren Zaldy Gallegos, Armand (Christina) Gallegos Sr., Ronald (Jeanette) Gallegos, Leezah Gallegos of Killeen, Texas, Reid Gallegos and Giana Gallegos of Niceville, Fla; great-grandchildren Armand Gallegos Jr., Caden Gallegos and Gabriel Gallegos of Killeen, Texas; brother Emilio Andam of the Philippines; sister Euprecina Garcia of the Philippines; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation from 9-11 a.m. on Thursday, March 26, at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Kekaha. Rosary begins at 9:30 a.m. Mass with Father Fred Iminga officiating.
Interment will follow the services in Hanapepe Public Cemetery.

Sadamu “Caesar” Yamashiro of Waimea died March 21, 2009, at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital at age 93. Born Feb. 18, 1916, in Waimea, he was a retired factory journeyman for Kekaha Sugar Company.
He is survived by wife Michiko Yamashiro; daughter Ellen (Michael) Nakata of Lawa‘i; grandchildren Kris (Corey) Nakamura of Lihu‘e, Greg (Kathi) Nakata of Kaneohe, Kale Nakata of Lawa‘i; four great-grandchildren; brother Sakae (Mae) Yamashiro of Honolulu; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Shoichi Igarashi of Lihu‘e died March 18, 2009, at home at age 80. Born Jan. 30, 1929, in Kalaheo, he retired as a plumber with the state of Hawai‘i.
He was preceded in death by sister Yaeko Kimura and brother-in-law Norman Kimura.
He is survived by wife Nobue Igarashi of Lihu‘e; stepchildren Beverly (Mike) Nagano of Lihu‘e, Valerie (Alan) Silva of Lihu‘e, Lana (Manny) Corregedore Jr. of Lihu‘e, Lee (Sherri) Yasutake of Lihu‘e, Daryl (Jacqueline) Yasutake of Kapa‘a, Dewey (Pha) Yasutake of Honolulu, Lisa (Warren) Koga of Lihu‘e; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
