In these times of mounting crisis while energy costs rise, food shortages loom on the horizon and the economy wobbles dangerously, the wise prepare for the best while others simply worry about the worst.
The new Entrepreneurship Program at Kaua‘i Community College is an offering “to the wise”…. the ones who wish to prepare for the best. It is a program designed to provide the business skills for success in our current era of economic uncertainty.
The new emphasis of this popular business training program is embedded in the course that will be offered starting June 16 and continuing for 10 sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. It is entitled “Creative Financing: Grants, Loans and Fund Raising.”
The focus will be on “green enterprises,” ones for both profit and non-profit that seek to improve the economy while respecting the environment.
This course is part of a comprehensive program that includes “Business Planning and Development” offered in the fall semester, “Business Management and Growth” offered in the spring semester and this “Creative Financing” course offered this summer. Tuition for each course has been reduced to $120 in recognition of the current financial times.
The “Creative Financing” course is designed for both profit and non-profit organizations. It provides the knowledge and skills essential to obtain financing for a wide variety of enterprises from small businesses to large corporations, from start-up social service agencies to established community development organizations. These skills apply to any organization that needs funding for such uses as: Planning, training, service delivery, product development, organizational development, expansion, buildings, facilities and equipment, or any one of an expanding list of needs.
Topics include: Locating sources of funding that are suitable to your needs, understanding how and why funds are provided by various banks, federal agencies, foundations, corporations, or philanthropic groups, learning how to apply for and obtain funding, and designing and managing a comprehensive funding program.
The entire Entrepreneurship Program is based on the nationally acclaimed FastTrac training system adopted by colleges and universities across America. It reflects the most current research regarding the principles and practices that have produced successful leaders in all fields of business. The skills and knowledge provided in this program can be applied to any kind of non-profit or profitable venture.
