Michael Chandler
Michael Valentine Chandler died Aug. 10, 2009 at his home in Kilauea. He was born on Oct. 1, 1930, in Wainiha.
He was preceded in death by his parents William and Rosalina Chandler, late wife Maile and his siblings Angeline, William, Silas, John, Bertha, Loke, Agnes, Margaret Frances, Leo and Joseph, and sons Levi and James.
He is survived by his wife Merrilee Chandler, sons Walter (Elsie) Chandler, Michael (Gigi) Chandler Jr., Lloyd (Nan) Chandler, Jeffrey Chandler, Leo Chandler, Maka (Lara) Chandler, Pio (Adrienne) Chandler, Shawn Chandler, Monty (Umi) Chandler, 25 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family on Aug. 21 at Borthwick Mortuary Chapel in Koloa from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and again on Aug. 22 at St. Sylvester’s Church in Kilauea from 9 a.m. where mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m.
Landis Fu
Landis Lono Kwai Chun Fu died June 11, 2009, at St. Mary’s Hospital, in New York, at age 65. He was born on November 4, 1943, on O‘ahu.
He was preceded in death by his son Eric, daughter Melody, sister Drucilla Louis, mother Alice A. Maglinti, father Lono Fu and stepfather John Maglinti Jr.
He is survived by his wife Virginia Fu of New York; daughters Brenda Maynard and Melissa (Josh) Sanchez of New York; sons Wesley Fu and Aaron (Danielle) Fu of New York; nine grandchildren; brothers Vernon (Lynn) Fu and Lance (Roni) Fu of Kaua‘i; sisters Ilona (Warren) Moritsugu, Lissa Fu, Lona Duque, Lani (Darrin) Gomes, Lynn (Russell) Leong, Leilani (Kip) Furugen, all of Kaua‘i and stepmother Francis Fu.
A celebration of his life will be held at 10 a.m., on Saturday, Aug. 22, at Koloa Missionary Church and will be officiated by Landis’ classmate, Pastor Niles Kageyama. Luncheon to follow.
Casual attire is suggested and the family requests flowers be omitted.
Marina Ganno
Marina Yago Ganno of McAllen, Texas, died Aug. 15, 2009, in McAllen Medical Center at age 47. Born on June 30, 1962, in Sinait, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, she was a housekeeper.
She was preceded in death by her father Isidro Yago.
She is survived by her husband Domingo Ganno; son Angelo Ganno; daughter Hilary Viernes; mother Teresa Yago; brothers Celso (Marissa) Yago, James (Jarilyn) Yago, Clint Yago, Phillip (Evelyn) Yago and Johnny Yago; sisters Marietta (Amante) Balisacan and Olivia (Alex) Bernardo; numerous uncles, aunties, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation from 6 to 9 p.m., on Friday, Aug. 28, at Borthwick Mortuary Chapel in Koloa. Visitation again from 8 to 9:45 a.m., Mass at 10 a.m., on Saturday, Aug. 29, at St. Catherine’s Church in Kapa‘a. Burial to follow at Lihu‘e Cemetery.
Mary Aviguetero
Mary Aviguetero died Aug. 17, 2009, at her home in Makaweli. Born on June 12, 1934, in Waimea, she was a homemaker.
She is preceded in death by her husband Fredric Cruz Aviguetero, parents Kim and Keahi Kapahu, brothers Ashford, Tim, Masa, Albert, Shima and Eddie Kapahu, grandson Scott Aviguetero and great-granddaughter Anela Nordmeier.
She is survived by her eight sons: Fred (Walnita) Aviguetero, Henry (Jasmine) Aviguetero, Douglas (June) Aviguetero, Marshal (Teresa) Aviguetero, Elvis (Sharla) Aviguetero, Rocky (Lola) Aviguetero, David Aviguetero and Patrick Aviguetero; her three daughters: Carmelita Haumea, Estrellita (Shane) Castillo, and Estelle (Kapena) Wilson; sisters Rebecca Niheu, Anna Keamoai and Julia Nakaya; 28 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family on Aug. 21 at the family residence in Makaweli from 6 p.m. and again on Aug. 22 at Waimea Foreign Church from 1 p.m. where services will be celebrated at 4 p.m. Burial to follow at Kekaha Hawaiian Cemetery.
