Malama Pono Health Services observes National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day Thursday, March 10. More than 278,000 women and adolescent girls in this country are living with HIV, according to the Center for Disease Control.
“One in five people who are infected with HIV do not know it,” states a press release from Malama Pono Health Services. “Knowing your own HIV status and that of your male sexual partners is critical because 80 percent of new infections in American women and girls result from sex with an infected male partner.”
Malama Pono encourages women and girls-at-risk to stop by its offices. Know the results of the HIV/AIDS test in 20 minutes.
Testing is from noon to 4 p.m. Thursday, March 10.
