Keegan Loo of Lihu‘e and Kenji Miyata of Kapa‘a will be teeing off Saturday at the Wailea Golf Club — Emerald Course on Maui when the 2011 Hali‘imaile Pineapple Company Tournament of Champions opens, hosted by the Hawai‘i State Junior Golf Association.
Loo, playing in the Boys 13-14 division, will be playing at 6,361 yards while Miyata, playing in the Boys 15-18 division, will be playing Par 72, 6,825 yards.
Each year, the HSJGA culminates its season by inviting all champions to compete in a year-end tournament sponsored by the Hali‘imaile Pineapple Company.
This tournament serves as the final opportunity for golfers to earn points toward the HSJGA Player of the Year honor in each age division.
Points determining Player of the Year will be calculated and announced shortly following the final round of the tournament, Sunday.
The HSJGA extends its appreciation to title sponsors Mr. and Mrs. C. Pardee Erdman, Jr. of Ulupalakua Ranch and the Hali‘imaile Pineapple Company and tournament host Wailea Golf Club which allow the HSJGA to showcase many bright and talented young golfers.
Wally Uihlein, Chairman and CEO of Acushnet Co. sponsored the tournament tee prizes and Mr. and Mrs. Alan Little secured a lunch donation from the Panda Express-Azeka.
