LIHU‘E — The Golf Club at Kukui‘ula has turned heads since it officially opened on Kaua‘i’s south shore in June. Now its making waves nationally.
The 7,000-yard course was named by Golf Magazine as the “Best New Private Course of the Year.”
“We are thrilled with this recognition from Golf Magazine and feel it’s a testament to the hard work that Tom Weiskopf and his team have put into making Kukui‘ula the best golf course in Hawai‘i,” Kukui‘ula President Brent Herrington said.
Weiskopf, a former British Open champion and accomplished course designer, molded the Kukui‘ula course with rolling fairways through coffee fields, meadows and hillsides.
Herrington said Weiskopf was able to come play in the inaugural member-guest tournament this past August, and the former pro had plenty of good things to say about the state of the course.
“Tom was saying that in the 60-plus courses he’s designed, this is easily the most impressive and best conditioned at this stage,” Herrington said. “By and large the comments have been truly incredible.”
The Golf Club at Kukui’ula will be featured in the January edition of Golf Magazine.
