Dorris Batt
Dorris H. Batt of Princeville, Kaua’i, passed away peacefully at her home on Jan. 10, 2012, at the age of 91. She was born in Beacon, New York, on Feb. 8, 1920. She was a history teacher, wife and mother. She was married to George Batt on Aug. 17, 1946. They moved from Beacon, New York, to Kaua’i in 1976. She always said her best years were here on Kaua’i.
She was preceded in death by son, David Batt; husband, George Batt and parents, Friedrick and Edith Heaney.
She is survived by daughters, Jane (John) Timmons of Dillon, Colo.; Wendy (Charlie) Elsasser of Princeville; grandchildren, Heather (Paul) Beckett of New Delhi, India; Rama Timmons of Dillon, Colo.; Jamie (Courtney) Timmons of Crested Butte, Colo., and Justin Knipple of Raleigh, N.C.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 21, at Waioli Hu’uai Church, Hanalei. Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. and service at 2 p.m.
Donations may be made to Kaua’i Hospice or Waioli Hu’uai Church.

Crescencio Ramos Jr.
Crescencio “Cres” M. Ramos Jr. of Kapa‘a passed away on Jan. 9, 2012, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 32. He was born on Nov. 15, 1979, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital.
He is survived by his parents, Crescencio “Cres” Ramos Sr.; Rebecca “Becky” Ramos; daughter, Alana Ramos; two brothers, Danvic Ramos and Glen Ramos; grandparents, Primitivo (Maria) Ramos and Alberto (Beatriz) Nidea; numerous nieces, nephews, aunties, uncles and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, Jan. 20, at Borthwick Mortuary Chapel in Koloa from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., and again on Saturday, Jan. 21, at St. Catherine’s Church in Kapa‘a from 8 a.m. to 9:45a.m., where Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe. Liane Cambra
Liane Tomiko Kawamura Cambra of Hilo, Hawaii died on Jan. 11, 2012, at the Hilo Medical Center. She was born in Hilo on Dec. 23, 1964, and was employed by the State of Hawai‘i as an office assistant at the Department of Health Sanitation and Environmental Services Division office in Hilo.
She is survived by husband, Evan Cambra of Hilo; parents, Samuel and Emileen Kawamura of Hilo; sisters, Lynn Kinoshita of Hilo and Lorna (David) Tsuchiya of Kekaha, Kauai; sister-in-laws, Elena Hanashiro of Pepe‘ekeo and Eunice (Ray Okabayashi) Domingo of Pepe‘ekeo; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Joey Swanson
Joey Jerry “Indian Joe” Swanson, formally of Kaua‘i, died on Dec. 17, 2011, at his home in Honolulu. He was born on Dec. 6, 1955, on the Navajo Indian Reservation at Seba Delkai, Ariz. He was 56 years old.
He moved to Kaua‘i in 1972 with his parents George and Donna Schulze and family. He graduated from Kaua‘i High School in 1974 and was formerly employed at the Coco Palms Hotel, Kaua‘i Surf and Kauai Resort. For the past nine years he was employed at the Pioneer Plaza Resort on O‘ahu. He loved surfing Kaua‘i and O‘ahu and enjoyed working in the visitor industry.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Schulze of Kilauea; his sister, Melodye Dabney and brother-in-law, Karl of Oregon.
He is survived by his mother, Donna Schulze of Kilauea; daughter, Jessica Julia Swanson of Kalaheo; three grandchildren, Melisa, Jolene and Elijah; sisters, Gay Holden-Petrini (Glenn) of Florida; Cathy Casas of South Carolina and Honey Charles (“BC”) of Hanama‘ulu; brothers, Happy Holden (Lydia) of Michigan; Dr. Jolly Holden (Lynda) of Georgia; numerous nieces and nephews; great nieces and great nephews.
Private family services will be held at a later date. The family requests that donations be made to local charities in his honor.
