Jessica Iwata is the WAC Hitter of the Week, but what about our KIF superstars? Kaylee Malapit recently had a grand slam (she must be an RBI leader with six in just three games), Kawehi Ephan conked another couple of home runs, and Cassandra Dupree came up with the clutch hits when it counted (two home runs in two games). And this doesn’t take into consideration Anaise Soltren, who threw a no-hitter.
With that kind of talent, KIF softball is definitely a place to be. Chef Rafael Camarillo (he had to check out his daughter Angel, who plays leftfield for Kaua‘i) got iced out of the kitchen by Mama Scovel (she was at the Lawai Cannery sale, too), but Chef Turquoise Santos was busy with the pronto pups (vegetarian, anyone?) at the Kaua‘i baseball game against Kapa‘a. With that many chefs, no wonder there was a debate on whether the shoyu chicken or roast pork was the better meal.
OK, it’s time to head to Waimea and see what’s on the menu at Waimea Canyon Park. But before that trip, gotta go check out Yukie DeSilva getting busted for MDA at the annual Lock Up at Duke’s.
