LIHU‘E — The Kaua’i Department of Water will hold its final community meeting in Kilauea regarding a possible new fee structure for its Water System Development Fee.
The meeting is from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the Kilauea Neighborhood Center.
Monthly water rates cover the cost of providing service to existing customers and repairing or replacing existing equipment, and the WSDF is paid by new water users and existing users who need additional water, a county news release states. The charge is designed to cover the cost of adding new capacity such as new water sources and storage and transmission pipelines, according to the county.
