Joseph “Joe” Stoddard

Joseph Scott “Joe” Stoddard of Wailua, Hawaii passed away on December 23, 2012 at Straub Hospital, Honolulu, Hawaii at the age of 91.  Born on June 4, 1921 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, he was Partner/Owner, Designer and Manufacturer of Fine wood office furniture in Los Angeles, California before moving to Kauai in 1990; Draftsman Douglas Aircraft, El Segundo, California; and Leut. j.g. United States Navy, served aboard an aircraft carrier USS Lake Champlain, CV-39.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Virginia “Gini” Stoddard; daughter, Janet Brindley (Kim) of Wailua Homesteads; Richard Stoddard (Cher) of Beatty, Nevada; and grandsons, James Jackman of Placentia, California, and Jason Jackman of Redlands, California.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Lihue United Church (behind King Auto).  Gathering will begin at 1:30 pm with service to follow at 2:00 pm.

Family requests aloha attire.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Grove Farm Homestead Museum or The Kauai Historical Society.

Peter “Perry” Mancusi

Peter “Perry” Mancusi of Kapaa, HI passed away peacefully at his second home in Shelter Cove, CA on September 27 2012 at the age of 64.  Born in New York on May 02, 1948, he was a Real Estate Property Manager and a long time resident of Kapahi, Kauai.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ettore Mancusi and his mother, Jean Mancusi.

He is survived by his wife Linda Nusser; his two younger brothers, Tim and Bob; and the latter’s wife, Janene; and numerous nieces, nephews on Linda’s side.

Private Services were held.

Alejandro “Ale” Otlang

Alejandro “Ale” Otlang of Eleele, Kauai, Hawaii passed away on January 22, 2013 at his home in Eleele at the age of 70.  Born on November 9, 1942 in Koloa, Kauai, he was Retired, Army National Guard and a Heavy Equipment Trainer, McBryde Sugar Plantation.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Narcisco Otlang and Tecla Otlang-Gelbolingo; brothers, Francisco, Sibero, Cipirino, Cristobal Otlang and Juan Pantohan.

Survived by his wife, Sharlene Garcia Otlang, Eleele; daughters, Alexis (Gerald) Poblete, Maui; Rexana (Trevor) Otlang- Berry, Oahu; sisters, Jeannie Oroc, Kekaha, Flora Relacion, Honolulu; brother, Terry Pantohan, Hanamaulu; 3 grandchildren, Justin Alexander Berry, age 13, Gia Kanani and Josiah Marquez Poblete.

Join the family on Friday February 1, 2013 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Kalaheo.  Visitation at 9:00 A.M. Mass to be celebrated at 11:00 A.M.  Burial to follow at Kauai Veterans Cemetery

Kazue Taogoshi

Kazue Taogoshi of Kapaa passed away at Garden Island Health Care on January 20, 2013, at the age of 90. She was born in Anahola on July 23, 1922, and retired as a cashier with Foodland Super Market.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sadamu Taogoshi; son, Gary Taogoshi; siblings, Harry, Haruo, Haruko, Yukiko and Kiyomi.

She is survived by four sons, Albert “Shige” (Lilliann) Yoshii of Oahu, Roy (Lynne) Taogoshi of Kapaa, Alan (Susan) Taogoshi of Kapaa, Cary (Prescilla) Taogoshi of Oahu, 14 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; brother, Haruto (Miyoko) Oshima of California; sister, Fumiko Matsukawa of California; numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Kapaa Hongwanji Mission with visitation from 10:00 a.m. and services celebrated at 11:00 a.m.

Kauai Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the Taogoshi family with arrangements.
