Kudos to Wes Perreira (he was at the Kaua‘i Regional Science and Engineering Fair on Thursday night at the Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall) and his Hawai‘i Foodbank Kaua‘i ‘ohana that was busy all week, starting with the Bingo outreach program for the Lihu‘e Senior Center (Janice Bond was cranking out those scrubbies, and Naty Bali just celebrated her birthday) where Caitlyn Fowlkes was introduced as the latest addition to the ‘ohana as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program coordinator.

The entire leadership team was helping Samira Siale and Ike Cockett at the Visitor Industry Charity Walk (registration deadline for the first-ever Charity Walk Pickle Ball Tournament is Feb. 16!) breakfast where the goal for this year’s walk on May 4 is $600,000, and the top individual fundraiser, Lillian Watari, is trying something new with burgers and hot dogs for this year’s event that Jim Braman is hoping will raise more than the $43,000 that Lillian raised, last year.
Tisha Remigio and Heidi Padilla were out with Salvador Bisarra on Thursday morning to set up a pantry program at the Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School, where Tisha said they will start with snacks only and build to hopefully become a Student Choice Program to help with the students’ food insecurity anxieties, and being more aligned with national guidelines.
OK, time to check out the Downtown Lihu‘e Night Market that starts with the slow roll with the Bikes on Rice people … hope nobody’s bike got pilfered.
