Rossiter Ronald Kamealoha Oana, Sr.
Rossiter Ronald Kamealoha Oana, Sr., of Kalaheo, passed away on Jan. 4, 2024, in Kalaheo at the age of 84. He was born on Jan. 23, 1939, in Lihu‘e. He was a telephone linesman with Hawaiian Tel Company and a long-time musician with the Punuas.
He was preceded in death by parents Stanley Manaia Oana, Sr. and Elizabeth Leialoha Kanoho Oana, wife Marjorie Napua Rodrigues Oana, son Rosswell Raoul Kaleolani Oana, granddaughter Weslyn Jerves, grandson Don Sadomiano, brother Stanley Manaia (Smokey) Oana, Jr., sisters Eleanor Leinaala Carvalho and Flora Ornellas.
He is survived by wife Victoria Navarro Oana, sons Rossiter R. K. Oana, Jr. of Oma‘o, Michael Oana of Vancouver, Washington, Chris Oana of Vancouver, Washington, daughters Raenette (Danny) Sadomiano of Hanama‘ulu, Rhonda Jerves of Hanama‘ulu, Rona (Reuben Yadao) Oana of ‘Ele‘ele, Romy Oana of ‘Ele‘ele, stepdaughters Nani (Matthew) Burger of Oregon, Angelina Kays of Kalaheo, grandchildren Reef Oana, Chantel Lopez, Aaron (Toya) Oana, Mahealani Oana, Channel (Kalani Matsusaka) Jerves, Jewel Jerves, Ashlyn Jerves, Garon (Danielle Kulia) Nobriga, Ryden Nobriga, Ariel Overton, Hailey Oana, Mason Oana, Keoni Sadomiano, Gavin Sadomiano, Raschel Yadao, Shalea (Nicholas) Kam, Taralei (Dillion Kane) Yadao, great-grandchildren Kichelle Oana, Taylin Oana, Tydin Oana, Zion Oana, Chay Ramirez, Tawehi Oana Makanani, Ceriann Jerves, Rize Papagayo, Janai Thompson, Tori Santiago, Wesley Kamu Santiago, Myah Matsusaka, Aiyana Matsusaka, Sariah Matsusaka, Kalani boy Matsusaka, Zaylin Matsusaka, Anela Yadao, Aiden Catbagan-Texeira, Kieran Shigeo Kam, Salem Kam, Ezekiel Kane, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service will be held at Lihue Lutheran Church on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024. Visitation is from 8 to 9 a.m. followed by a celebration of life at 9 a.m. The family requests aloha attire and welcomes flowers.

Manuel Frank Rivera, Jr.
Manuel Frank Rivera, Jr., of Kekaha, passed away on Jan. 8, 2024, at home at the age of 81. He was born on Feb. 2, 1942, in Kekaha. He was a shipping and receiving manager and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by wife Geraldine Rivera, daughter Karen Marie Rivera, parents Manuel Rivera, Sr., Elizabeth Rivera, sisters Virginia Madera and Ramona Rivera.
He is survived by son Manuel Rivera III of Kekaha, daughter Lesley Rivera of Hilo, grandchild Kiana Marie Palos, great-grandchild Starlight Palos, brothers Vincent Rivera (Luwika) of Hilo, Martin Rivera of Murrieta, California, sister Elizabeth “Didy” Gonsalves of Reno, Nevada, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service will be held at the Garden Island Mortuary in Lawa‘i on Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2024. Visitation is from 9 to 11 a.m. followed by a celebration of life. The family requests casual attire and welcomes flowers.

Jessica ‘Jessie’ Louise Coyamin
Jessica “Jessie” Louise Coyamin, of Lihu‘e, passed away on Jan. 5, 2024, at the age of 64 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital. She was born in Lihu‘e, Kaua‘i, on Jan. 25, 1959.
Jessie was employed at Puakea Golf Course as a groundskeeper and worked part-time for various rent-a-car companies before the pandemic. She was an awesome person who loved to roll dice with friends and spend time with her family and friends on special occasions. Our departed Jessie will be sadly missed by her family and everyone who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her mother Francisca “Frances” Agao Rapozo and nephew Lenson William Coyamin Perez.
She is survived by her father Rosario “Ross” A. Coyamin, stepfather Donald “Spike” R. Rapozo Sr., siblings Russell “Russ” A. (Pamela) Coyamin Sr., Rebecca “Becky” A. (Ricky Imada) Coyamin, Donald “DJ” (Danielle Pelletier) R. Rapozo Jr., children Shayleen “Shay” F. (Roderick “Baga” Bagaoisan) Louis-Coyamin, Jennifer “Jenny” (Albert Maghanoy Jr.) Louis, Melissa “Melis” (John Krause Jr.) Louis, Reuben Louis, children’s father, Abel H. Louis, Jr., 18 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, hanai sisters Ulu Urwiler, Janell Efhan, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Kalapaki Park, Nawiliwili on Sunday, Feb. 18, at 10 a.m. Please bring memories, your comfortable chairs (if you want), and BYOB.

Felicitas Dancel Caalim
Felicitas Dancel Caalim, 92, of Lawa‘i, passed away on Jan. 16, 2024, at Garden Isle Rehab & Nursing. She was born on May 31, 1931, in Pasuquin, Philippines. She was a field worker.
She was preceded in death by husband Pedro Caalim, parents Pantaleon and Procesa Dancel, sisters Francisca Bulosan, Gaudelia Ganal and brother Gavino Dancel.
She is survived by son Peter (Jocelyn) Caalim of Lawa‘i, daughters Clavelina Caalim of Mililani, Wilma (David) Aguirre of Eastvale, California, Lorna (Ioane) Lopes of Lawa‘i, grandchildren Kodi (Jamie) Rachwal-Oyama, Jorden DeCosta-Caalim (Daylin), Jaden DeCosta-Caalim (Tyler), Mikayla Aguirre (Ulysses), Jamelyn DeCosta-Caalim (Raine), Pomaile (Kahanu) Malama, Joseph Aguirre, Marlayna Aguirre, Katelyn Lopes, great-grandchildren Hunter Rachwal-Oyama, Vaea Caalim-Huni, Wrenly Rachwal-Oyama, brother Antonio (Herminia) Dancel of Pasuquin, Philippines, sisters Catalina (Alfonso) Palma of Laoag City, Philippines and Teresita (Edilon) Guerrero of Cannes, France, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Donna Moore
Donna Moore drew her final breath on Jan 29, 2024 and passed on. The sky was blue, calm, and virtually cloudless. She was surrounded by loved ones, with music playing quietly in the background. She had flowers in her hair.
Donna lived with PCA a rare form of young onset Alzheimer’s disease.
Donna was born in Vancouver, British Columbia. Although she lived in Hawai‘i for 37 years and made it her home, she remained a proud Canadian.
She was preceded in death by her parents Gladys and Peter Wildeman.
A resident of Kaua‘i for 35 years, she is survived by her husband of 34 years Chef Mike Moore and her 3 sons, of whom she was very proud, Colten, Shane and Aidan Moore. She is survived by her sister Deanna Wildeman, and brothers David (Lenore) Wildeman and Gary Wildeman and numerous nieces and nephews.
Donna was an ICU and Same Day Surgery/PACU Registered Nurse for many years on Kaua‘i. Donna always focused on helping and healing others, In addition to her brilliant nursing skills she was also a Healing Touch practitioner. She and Mike volunteered with KORE for many years. Her desire to help others with her disease led her to donate her brain to UCSF for research, so future patients might benefit.
Donna loved the ocean, she spent countless hours snorkeling, educating people on reef and turtle safety, and picking up trash. She loved children and always had bubbles with her to entertain them as well as the young at heart adults in her life.
Donna loved music and attended many live music events at Anaina Hou. A highlight for her and her family was a visit to New Orleans for the 50th Jazz Festival. Listening to music was a favorite pastime right up until the very end.
She will be missed by her family and many close friends and colleagues.
A Celebration of Donna’s Life will be held by the ocean at the end of April. Donations can be made in memory of Donna to Kaua‘i Hospice Society.
Mildred Tazuko Kurihara
Mildred Tazuko Kurihara, of Wailua Houselots, passed away on Dec. 20, 2023, in Lihu‘e at the age of 91. She was born on Jan. 31, 1932, in Wailua. She was a secretary/receptionist for Mokihana Insurance and a store proprietor of Togikawa Store.
She was preceded in death by husband Howard Kurihara, parents Hideo and Yukiko Togikawa, brothers Albert Togikawa, Robert Togikawa, in-laws Eizo and Katsu Kurihara and son-in-law Jeffrey Lindemann.
She is survived by daughters Gale Lindemann of Kaua‘i, Jan (Keith) Tatsuguchi of O‘ahu, grandchildren Jeffrey (Natalie) Lindemann of Texas, Wesley (Shea Pizzolatto) Lindemann of Texas, Robert Lindemann of Kaua‘i, Byron (Cindy Gan) Lindemann of Connecticut, step-great-grandchildren Reign and Iel Lim of Texas, sister Jane (Paul) Okamoto of Hawaii (Big Island), brother-in-law Asahi Okamoto of Kauai, sisters-in-law Eleanor Togikawa of O‘ahu, Betty Togikawa of Indiana, Sanae Saito of Maui, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024, at the Kapa‘a Jodo Mission. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. and service at 11 a.m. The family suggests casual attire and requests no flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Donations in her memory can be made to Kaua‘i Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association.

Donald Satoshi Shimamoto
Donald Satoshi Shimamoto, 78, of Kapa‘a, passed away on Oct. 8, 2023, at Straub Medical Center in Honolulu. He was born on Aug. 7, 1945, in Lihu‘e. He served in the United States Army in Vietnam 1966-1968. He was the Building Maintenance Supervisor when he retired in Dec. 2000 from the Department of Accounting and General Services State of Hawai‘i after 26 years of employment.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Kristy Shimamoto, parents Seiichi and Misao Shimamoto, parents-in-law Joseph Lei, Jr., Sheila Viela, sister-in-law JoAnn Shimamoto, brother-in-law Roy Takahashi and niece Lena Takahashi.
Donald is survived by his wife Sharlene Shimamoto, daughter Renae (Thomas) Benjamin, granddaughters Kierstyn Benjamin, Mackenzie Benjamin, brothers Alan (Sharon) Shimamoto, Patrick Shimamoto, sister Karen Takahashi, sister-in-law Ione (Kirk) Brown, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family and friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024, at Garden Island Mortuary Chapel in Lawa‘i from 9 to 9:45 a.m. where a celebration of life will be at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home. The family suggests casual attire and that flowers be omitted.
