Congratulations to the Mu‘umu‘u Design Contest winners who were presented by Carol Yotsuda and the Garden Island Arts Council as part of the Mu‘umu‘u Pa‘ina Luncheon presented by the Kaua‘i Historical Society and a host of community sponsors.
Kathleen Ho earned first place honors in the sold-out Casual category with Beverly Montel and Joelle Perry finishing in second and third places, respectively. Jodi Ascuena was the first place winner in the Formal category followed by Momi Lamm in second place and Mokihana Quereto in third place.
Hi‘ilei Berg (she’s still a Kawaikini School student) earned first place honors in the Avant Garde category with Lenny Collins finished second,and Barbara Green being happy with third place because the first place winner is one of her students.
Jamilee Jimenez said a lei shop in Kaimuki is pushing February as Aloha Shirt Month. First Hawaiian Bank and the Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i should take up this offer because of the gorgeous varieties their representatives had on during their presentations, which included blessing a new branch site and donating to the Kaua‘i United Way.
OK, don’t forget … Saturday is the craft fair component of the Grove Farm Market at Puhi Park open field from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Sunday is the Local Treasures Marketplace at the Kaua‘i Veterans Center parking lot from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
