Jason and Gina Koeppel of J’s BBQ and Highly Visible clothing were anticipating a busy holiday weekend (it’s supposed to be clear, but cold!) along the main drag at Hanapepe Art Night, and Joanne Parongao said the Chinese lions will welcome the Year of the Dragon (Wood) on Chinese New Year on Feb. 10 at Kukui Grove Center. The lions will also be at the Kaua‘i Poke Company (they’re at the Po‘ipu Bay Golf Course building), and according to Joanne, Pilare Mukai has the lions on the Friday Feb. 16 (sounds like another special Flavors of Kuku‘iula coming up).
Yes, it’s the Martin Luther King holiday, but Pau Hana Market will be open from 3 p.m. on Monday (are avocado in season?). And, it’s not supposed to rain until at least Tuesday.
