KAPA‘A — Rev. Rita Andriello-Feren, Rev. Patrick Feren and the Center for Spiritual Living Kaua‘i announce the dedication of its permanent indoor 40-by-40 foot labyrinth.
Described as a “sacred New Year’s Eve event,” the dedication will take place from 5 p.m. at the CSL facility located on the grounds of the Kapa‘a Hongwanji Mission. The event, which is themed “Walk with Love into 2024,” is open to the public.
“A labyrinth is an ancient symbol that relates to wholeness,” said Rev. Rita. “It combines the imagery of the circle and the spiral into a meandering but purposeful path. The labyrinth represents a journey to our own center and back again out into the world. Labyrinths have long been used as meditation and prayer tools.”
The labyrinth being dedicated on New Year’s Eve was made possible through a generous donation, CSL said. The artwork for the labyrinth was created by artist Isha Doellgast and assisted by Melissa Mojo, a CSL Kaua‘i practitioner and board member.
Following Jan. 1, 2024, the CSL Kaua‘i labyrinth will be open to the public for contemplative walks for individuals and groups. Labyrinth walkers should call 808-431-1700 for a schedule or to set an appointment.
