WAIPOULI — The county’s Office of Economic Development, in collaboration with the Sheraton Kaua‘i Coconut Beach Resort, announced two Kaua‘i Made product fairs starting with the Kaua‘i Made Holly Jolly Holiday Fair on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Sheraton Kaua‘i Coconut Beach Resort in Waipouli.
The second event, the Kaua‘i Products Fair, will take place on Dec. 29 from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Sheraton Kaua‘i Coconut Beach Resort, coinciding with the monthly appearance of crafters at the Sheraton Coconut Beach Resort on the final Friday afternoon.
Both events will feature live entertainment. The Holly Jolly event will feature more than 40 vendors and a visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
Vendor sisters Muriah and Morgan Moises, both participants of last year’s Holly Jolly event, are looking forward to being at the resort.
“This year, we have something new — Morgan’s line of stationary,” said Muriah Moises.
The stationary items are inspired by the popular Japanese Sanrio, or Hello Kitty. It includes the traditional pencils, pens, erasers, notebooks, stationary and is expanded to offer the popular Croc stickers.
“These items are very popular with the young people and students,” Morgan said. “We looked at the items being affordable to students who may want to give them away as gifts.”
Shopping activity was brisk during the previous Kaua‘i Made Program, coupled with nine visiting Maui Nui vendors through the Kokua for Maui — Shop and Show Aloha program held at Kukui Grove Center, which coincided with the shopping center’s Small Business Saturday campaign.
“It was very busy from the start to the very end,” said Julie Demond of Jules of Da ‘Aina. “We got to meet some of the Maui vendors, but didn’t have enough time to network. They are very nice people.”
The Kaua‘i Made program was launched by the County of Kaua‘i in 2006 with support from the Hawai‘i Tourism Authority with the goal of giving locally made products more visibility and encouraging production of value-added agricultural products.
