Rowen Jardin made a hole in one on the 164 yard Hole No. 12 at Kiahuna Golf Course on Sept. 23, 2023. Rowen, age 11, is a 6th grade at Waimea Canyon School. He started playing the game of golf about 6 months ago.

Friends of Kaua‘i Wildlife Refuges Executive Director Thomas Daubert talks to a young shopper about the Koloa duck, which was part of the wildlife refuge display at Kukui Grove Center. Daubert was pulling out the display, as the shopping center transitions to Halloween.

Dr. Laurel Coleman (she’s planning to walk) said Arnold Leong of the Fah Inn (there actually is a ‘Fah Inn’ building in Waimea) is planning to cook pancakes for participants of the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, which takes place on Saturday with registration starting at 7 a.m. and the walk starting at 8 a.m. at the Ocean Course at Hokuala. This is a new site from the original walk that was rescheduled due to consideration for the Maui wildfires, and there is no Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation bowling scheduled to keep Coach Kevin Gusman from walking.
