WAILUA — The honorable Judge Gregory Meyers officiated over the installation of new officers of the Kaua‘i Filipino Community Council (KFCC), which is known for its presentation of the annual Miss Kaua‘i Filipina Scholarship Pageant, on Saturday.
Joining the group of people being installed were directors and advisors of the KFCC, as well as the presidents of six Filipino community organizations — Abra Association, Bacarrencos of Kaua‘i, Kaua‘i Pangasinan Association, Kaua‘i Visayan Club, Laoag Saranay Association, and Confederation of Ilocano Association, S. I.
Miss Kaua‘i Filipina 2023 Virginia Perreira, who finished the state pageant as the first runner-up, or princess, assisted Meyers at the function where The Aloha Band provided entertainment for the night. The function was chaired by Lynn Campbell, president of Kaua‘i Visayan Club, and Sharon Brioso, president of Abra Association.
KFCC officers being installed were President Nancy Apalla, Executive Vice President Mario Trinidad, Membership Vice President Esther Tunac, Community Vice President Benson Peralta, Secretary Shari Rabaino, Assistant Secretary Sheena Torres, Treasurer Laverne Bisarra, Assistant Treasurer Loraine Ballesteros and Auditor Rose Iloreta.
KFCC directors are Nannie Ann Apalla, Delia Astologio, Benie Battulayan, Charlmaine Bulosan, Frances Dullaga, Miles Kobayashi, Cora Pascual, Marilou Trinidad and Tito Villanueva.
Dr. Arnulfo Diaz, Dr. Antolin Apalla Jr., Edwin Navarro and Irenio Soriano are club advisors.
Affiliate organization leaders being installed included Sharon Brioso as president of the Abra Association, Angel Acorda as president of the Bacarrenos of Kaua‘i, Marie Mendaro as the president of the Kaua‘i Paangasinan Association qne Lynn Campbell as president of Kaua‘i Visayan Club.
Also installed were Barbara Green as president of Kaua‘i Filipino Women’s Club, Amy Melchor-Tamayo as president of Laoag Saranay Association and Jerry Soliven Jr., who leads the Confederation of Ilocano Association, S.I.
Virgie Cruzada facilitated the movement of people through the installation that featured a keynote address by Kaleo Carvalho of the mayor’s office.
