Following are this week’s synopses of shows on KBFD TV, which televises Korean dramas with English subtitles.
The 43rd Hawai‘i International Film Festival kicks off Thursday, Oct. 12. The Spotlight on Korea section will have the following films: “A Normal Family,” “Concrete Utopia (Lee Byung Hun),” “Gentleman,” “Killing Romance, Secret: Untold Melody,” “The Gangster,” “The Cop,” “The Devil (Don Lee),” “The Round Up: No Way Out (Don Lee)” and locally produced documentary by KBFD “Unfinished History (Kim Seung Woo).” Korean Hollywood star Ma Dong Seok aka Don Lee will be attending HIFF to receive the Halekulani Maverick Award. Ma starred in “Marvel Eternals,” “Train to Busan” and “The Outlaws” trilogy. For more information, please visit HIFF.ORG.

Episode 15 &16 (Sunday)
Sunday, 6:40 p.m.: Ttang-sae rescues Yeon-hee and Jung Do-jeon from danger. Boon-yi gets tearful when she recognizes Ttang-sae and Yeon-hee. Ttang-sae tells Jung Do-jeon he’ll stay. Yi Seong-gye gives Ttang-sae a new name, Yi Bang-ji, and puts him in charge of Jung Do-jeon’s security.
Sunday, 7:50 p.m.: Hong In-bang demands that they investigate Jo Ban’s treasonous attempt before his impeachment. He threatens Min Je to make up evidence that Yi Seong-gye was the man behind the treasonous attempt.

Monday, 7:45 p.m.: Jisan Bank faces crisis. To save Jisan Bank, Ho Woo, Yeon A and Ji Soo informs Taeil’s president about Je Kyun. Je Kyun makes a push for his plan’s final stage. And Ho Woo, Seung Jo and Joyce combine their forces to stop him.
Tuesday, 7:45 p.m.: Everyone involved is faced with changed world around them. Seung Jo and Ho Woo are successful in stopping Je Kyun and having him face the law. Ho Woo learns the truth about his parents’ death.

Episodes 93&94 (Wednesday); Episode 95&96 (Thursday)
Wednesday, 7:50 p.m.: Kyung-su demand that Sook-jung return the secret recipe book. She counters saying that she is the rightful person to use the family recipe as she is Kyung-su’s mother. Sook-jung wins over Young-shin using the book.
Thursday, 7:50 p.m.: Young-shin ultimately wins the cooking contest. Jong-kwon gives her the right to the kitchen saying she is born with the talent. Young-shin asks Sook-jung to leave as promised. Sook-jung refuses saying she dedicated 30 years of her life there.
Gwanggaeto
Episodes 81 (Friday); Episodes 82 (Saturday)
Friday, 7:50 p.m.: Murong Bao gets enraged over a poster saying that Murong Xi should become the new emperor. Murong Xi tries to harm Feng Ba but fails, and Feng Ba finds out about it and reports it to Murong Bao. After learning of this, Murong Xi turns to Ko Un for help, and Ko Un makes plans to make Murong Xi the new emperor. Murong Bao commits suicide and Murong Xi is crowned the new emperor.
Saturday, 7:50 p.m.: Both Houyan and Beiwei offer Goguryeo an alliance, and Damdeok vows to do what is most advantageous to Goguryeo. Houyan offers forts and repatriation of Goguryeo refugees, whereas Beiwei offers a royal marriage. Damdeok takes the path of accepting both offers and forms an alliance with both kingdoms.
