LIHU‘E — The summer roadwork season is nearing an end with a number of projects populating the schedule, including a lot of ongoing work in the Wailua area, the Hawai‘i Department of Transportation said in a weekly update.
Here’s a look at what’s on tap on Kaua‘i for the workweek ending Friday, Sept. 15. All scheduled road and shoulder work is weather permitting.
Anahola
A right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible for grass cutting in either direction, between the vicinity of Aliomanu Road and mile post 16, from Monday, Sept. 11, through Friday, Sept. 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Hanamaulu
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible for road reconstruction and temporary stripping in either direction between Kuene Road and Kapule Highway, on Sunday night, Sept. 10, through the morning of Friday, Sept. 15, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Kapa‘a
A right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible for grass cutting in either direction, in the vicinity of mile post 9.5 Street and Ioane Road on Monday, Sept. 11, through Friday, Sept. 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Kealia
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible for paving and striping in either direction, in the vicinity of Mailihuna Road and Aliomanu Road, on Sunday night, Sept. 10, through the morning of Friday, Sept. 15, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Oma‘o
A single lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is possible for grass trimming in either direction, in the vicinity of mile marker 8 and Akemama Road, on Monday, Sept. 11, through Friday, Sept. 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Princeville

Puhi
A single lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is possible for grass trimming in either direction, in the vicinity of Kikowaena Street and Kipu Road, on Monday, Sept 11, through Friday, Sept. 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Wailua
A right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in the northbound direction, in the vicinity of South Leho Drive and the Wailua Planatation Bridge, also known as Mayor Bryan J. Baptiste Memorial bridge, from Monday, Sept. 11, through Tuesday, Sept. 12, from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for manhole upgrade at north Leho Drive.

A right shoulder closure and narrowed lanes of Kuhio Highway (Route 56) are possible in the southbound direction between mile markers 5.7 and 6.7, in the vicinity of Leho Drive and Kapa‘a Bypass, for the Kuhio Highway Short-Term Improvements. The work can take place day or night.
A two lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible for lane smoothness grinding and striping work in either direction between Kuamo‘o Road and Kapa‘a Bypass on Sunday night, Sept. 10, through the morning of Friday, Sept. 15, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
