Lihu‘e Hongwanji Mission celebrates its first bon dance since the pandemic starting tonight, and continuing Saturday, when dinner service starts from 5 p.m., the games and country store open at 6 p.m., and bon dancing starts from 7:30 p.m. Motorists on Kuhio Highway in Kapaia should be mindful of the traffic slowdowns, especially for those trying to cross the highway to reach the bon dance.

The Kaua‘i Protect Our Nation’s Youth Bronco All-Stars are still raising funds for their trip to the mainland regional tournament. They’ll be out on Saturday and Sunday in the Central Pacific Bank parking lot fronting Rice Street with their flying saucers from 9 a.m. until they sell out … they’ll be there next Saturday and Sunday, too.
Kudos, Donya McKnight and the McFarm ‘ohana on getting its aloha cold crew put in with the other big boys in the food lineup at the Kaua‘i Hospice Concert in the Sky on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at the Vidinha Stadium soccer fields in Lihu‘e. They even had a shave ice machine going that was supposed to keep up with the demand.
Kudos to Wilcox Medical Center interns (Noelle Lau of the Wilcox Foundation said Wilcox has 18 interns this summer!) Hailey Silva and Casey Dusenberry for spearheading a food drive for the Hawai‘i Foodbank Kaua‘i (didn’t they have their refrigerated truck storing all those donated Aloun Farms watermelons in Kekaha?).
Don’t forget, this Saturday is Bikes on Rice that kicks off the monthly Downtown Lihu‘e Night Market.
