LIHU‘E — Andrew Orozco of the American Heart Association said the organization is working to develop a stronger presence on Kaua‘i when he accepted a $1,000 contribution from the Kaua‘i Filipino Community Council on Monday.
LIHU‘E — Andrew Orozco of the American Heart Association said the organization is working to develop a stronger presence on Kaua‘i when he accepted a $1,000 contribution from the Kaua‘i Filipino Community Council on Monday.
Orozco said he understands several people from the KFCC have been directly impacted by heart disease, and hopes the increased presence of the American Heart Association will help prevent future incidents.
Barbara Green of the KFCC said funds came largely from the Valentine’s Ball the club hosted to celebrate not only Valentine’s Day, but February being Heart Health Awareness Month.
“The ball, where Adams and Charlmaine Bulosan reigned as king and queen, enabled us to raise funds to donate to the American Heart Association for the great work that they do,” Green said. “We would like to share with all of those who supported and attended the Valentine’s Ball, how their contributions will go towards the research efforts being done by the American Heart Association.”
Heart education and resources from the American Heart Association were available to attendees of the ball, including Hands-Only CPR, Go Red for Women, and Women Needing CPR, too, and information on how knowing the warning signs of heart attack and stroke can save lives.
