LIHU‘E — Laulea Miike, of the Kapa‘a High School girls soccer program, earned Player of the Year votes in the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation soccer All-Star roster that was released on Friday morning.
Andrea Alfiler, the coach of the defending champion Lady Warriors, got the nod as Coach of the Year on the list that included nine of the positions going to Kapa‘a High School girls.
Kapa‘a girls earned the No. 2 seed in the Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association Division II play and went on to finish second at state after falling to unseeded Pac-5, 1-0.
Kaua‘i High School girls, filling four of the 19 available KIF girls all-stars, went to states and finished in the quarterfinals after losing to eventual Division II winner Pac-5.
Island School, the boys’ reigning KIF champions, filled seven of the 14 positions available, including Voyagers senior Manoa Knight getting the nod as Player of the Year.
The Voyagers earned the No. 2 seed for the HHSAA Division II tournament and advanced to the quarterfinals, where they fell to No. 3 seed Pac-5.
Coach of the Year honors was awarded to Waimea High School Coach Kalei Gardner.
