Mokihana Club music scholarship offered

LIHU‘E — The Mokihana Club is inviting graduating high school music students to apply for the club’s annual music scholarship competition.

The purpose of the competition is to encourage talented graduating Kaua‘i students to continue their music studies following graduation from high school.

To be eligible, applicants must have resided on Kaua‘i for at least four months prior to the music scholarship competition that will be held in April. Applicants must be graduating seniors who are students of voice or instruments, and be planning to attend an accredited college, university or vocational school or continue to study with a qualified music teacher.

Students must express a seriousness of purpose toward music, and must be recommended by a music teacher or by school personnel. The competition is based on merit, not necessarily financial need.

Completed applications, and the recommendation form, must be emailed to themokihanaclub@gmail.com no later than March 25. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

Applicants will audition for The Mokihana Club during its April 5 meeting.

Over the years, The Mokihana Club has awarded more than $68,000 to talented qualifying seniors in both public and private schools.
