From left, Kahea Hamakua and Irina Young of Grow With Aloha make sure everyone attending the Ho‘ike Hula Concert on Saturday had access to floral aloha at the Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall in Lihu‘e.

Nanea Bactad, left, and Taylor Melandish, right, of Titas Anuenue will have their anuenue (rainbow) products out on Saturday if they can get into the Downtown Lihu‘e Night Market on Kress Street. Here they offer their wares at the Halau Hula ‘O Leilani ho‘ike on Saturday at the Lihu‘e Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall.

Darryl Low, president/promoter of Halau Hula ‘O Leilani, third from right, and the volunteers from the Hekili Kanaka Motorcycle Club, are briefed on parking lot and security on Saturday during the Ho‘ike Hula Concert with Halau Hula ‘O Leilani at the Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall in Lihu‘e.

Kudos, Darryl Low, Leilani Rivera Low and Halau Hula ‘O Leilani, on hosting and presenting the Ho‘ike Hula Concert, where lots of volunteers turned out to ensure guests of a special concert (The Makaha Sons made a guest appearance) that followed a day of inclement weather.

Taylor Melandish of Titas Anuenue said she was supposed to go to the Grove Farm Market in Puhi on Saturday, but it was terrible weather. She did make it to the Ho‘ike Hula Concert, and said she’s trying real hard to get into the Downtown Lihu‘e Night Market for Saturday, the evening before Super Sunday (and Valentine’s Day on Tuesday).

Gerald Hirata was helping (did you see that fabulous orchid display provided by Orchid Alley?) because “it is for Leilani,” and Kahea Hamakua and Irina Young of Grow With Aloha made sure there were floral pieces for everyone (what is hula without flowers?). They’re also getting ready for Valentine’s Day, and people can contact them through Instagram.

Ruke Jewelry Hawai‘i was happy to have a roof over its head after enduring a night in the weather at the Friday Art Night in Hanapepe, where weather is not good for the electrical arc welder she uses for creating her permanent jewelry. But she’s planning on being at the Downtown Lihu‘e Night Market (pray for no rain!) along with Kress Street full of vendors.
