WAIPOULI — Several years ago, the leadership team at the Sheraton Kaua‘i Coconut Beach Resort realized that First Responders would be spending special days like Thanksgiving without their family, just like members of the visitor industry that spend these special holidays and days making sure visitors have the best experience they can provide.
WAIPOULI — Several years ago, the leadership team at the Sheraton Kaua‘i Coconut Beach Resort realized that First Responders would be spending special days like Thanksgiving without their family, just like members of the visitor industry that spend these special holidays and days making sure visitors have the best experience they can provide.
Thanksgiving, this year, was one of those days when the Waipouli resort was bristling with activity that comes from everything being nearly sold out.
“Everything is sold out,” said Barbara Gusman of the resort’s sales department. “The Grand Buffet is sold out. The Moamoa dining room is sold out, and even the luau is sold out. The meals we’re sending out is all family style, and I hope that’s OK. Our food and beverage director is stressing.”
What counted is that the Sheraton Kaua‘i Coconut Beach was able to squeeze in more than two dozen Thanksgiving meals to feed the shifts for the American Medical Response, Kapa‘a station, the Kaiakea and the Kapa‘a fire stations, and the Kaua‘i Police Department, Kapa‘a substation.
“Happy Thanksgiving, Kaua‘i,” was the response by the AMR paramedics and the Sheraton Kaua‘i Coconut Beach greeters, as the ambulance parked on the lower level parking and the paramedics picked up their Thanksgiving fixings.
