Same day voters in Kaua‘i choose Aiona and Tupa‘i ticket

Kaua‘i County gets bragging rights with the highest voter turnout of all counties, with 51 percent of registered voters actually casting their vote. Hawai‘i County was second with 49.3 percent, Honolulu third with 48.9 percent, and Maui was last at 45.7 percent.

Nursing students celebrate scholarships

Coming a week ahead of the Kaua‘i Community College nursing department’s big exams, students had time on Tuesday to celebrate $36,500 in scholarships that were presented by representatives of the Mokihana Club and the Rotary Club of Po‘ipu Bewach Francis Dillon Memorial Scholarships.

Big surf, high winds expected today

The National Weather Service has issued a high surf warning for north-facing shores of Kaua‘i and Ni‘ihau through 6 a.m. Friday. The warning may be extended, dropped or modified as conditions develop.
