Marcus was secure in his wagon, munching away at his favorite Choco Chunk Cookie (they have other Choco Chunk varieties, too) while watching mom slice up an Ube Japanese Cheesecake for sampling.

John Constantino (he’s never been to the Puhi Open Field market – Puhi Park is down the road where the Kaua‘i Senior Softball players play…just the one at the Kaua‘i Community College parking lot!) was waiting on Braden Kobayashi to sound the horn so he could get his hands on some of the many varieties of banana available at Elmer’s Farm, and Amy Chun was scurrying around shopping for the Kaua‘i Community College culinary arts program.
Emily Szurgot of Pulse of Aloha has a good source for locally-grown banana that is the heart of her banana bread (and dried banana) that she sells from her blue VW bus (is that the same one parked in Po‘ipu?).
Mayette Loseto had some “crispy” jackfruit that she cut crosswise so people could see the inside. She said if an individual eats five of the segments (she calls ‘em “globes,”), they may get thirsty, but they won’t get hungry for a couple of hours…perfect for all those Kaua‘i Marathon athletes. And, unlike other jackfruit, the “crispy” jackfruit is still crunchy and sweet when it’s ripe.
