Brian Martin Andrade
Brian Martin Andrade, 48, of Lawa‘i, passed away at his home on Aug. 10, 2022. He was born on Feb. 28, 1974, in Lihu‘e. He worked as a rancher at Andrade Slaughter House and Cattle Company.
He is survived by parents Manuel “Mac” and Phyllis Andrade, children Cheyenne, Brooklyn and London Andrade, siblings Macky Andrade and Sharleen (Meha) Balmores, grandmother Helen Martin, loving companion Heather Martin, niece Paisley Balmores, nephew Kroix Balmores and numerous uncles, aunties, and cousins.
Private services were held by the family.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
Carlos Lawrence Andrade
Carlos Lawrence Andrade passed away on July 30, 2022, in Kilauea, at the age of 78. He was born on May 29, 1944, in Kilauea. He was a professor, musician and waterman.
He was preceded in death by parents Larry and Angeline Andrade and brother Russell Andrade.
He is survived by wife Maile Andrade, sons Makali‘i Andrade of Anahola and Kaimalino Andrade of Kekaha, daughter Pelika Andrade of Anahola, grandchildren Makali‘i Bertelmann, Ka‘ala Bertelmann, Ho‘oipo Andrade, Kamali‘i Andrade, Hali‘imaile Andrade, Wehi Andrade and Meimei Andrade, brothers W. Pierre Andrade of Washington, Paul Andrade of Wailua and Kimo Andrade of Anahola, and sister Susan Andrade of Wailua.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
Garden Island Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Vincent Lopez Jr.
Vincent Lopez Jr. passed away on June 29, 2022, at the age of 62. He was employed by Akita Enterprises as a bus driver, and previously worked for The Kaua‘i Bus.
He was preceded in death by father Vincent Lopez Sr., sister Stella Lopez, maternal grandparents John C. Reis and Mabel Borges, and paternal grandparents Mareclino Lopez, John Medina and Mary Pavao.
He is survived by mother Marjory Lou Naone, brothers Lyons “Kaipo” Naone, Lee “Kaleo” Naone, one nephew, four nieces and one grand-niece, aunts Elizabeth (Wayne) Allianic, Sweetie (Patrick) Lopez, numerous cousins, co-workers and friends who miss his phone calls the most.
A service is Saturday, Aug. 20, at Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo. Visitation starts at 9 a.m., Mass is at 10 a.m., and internment will follow Mass. Feel free to call cousin Petra at 808-346-3517 with questions. The family requests that flowers be omitted.
Earl S.P. Smith
Earl S.P. Smith, of Lawa‘i, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2022, at the age of 101 years. He was born on March 23, 1921, on O‘ahu. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in Honolulu.
He attended and graduated from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, New York and the University of Washington in Seattle, where he received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
His career in the sugar industry began at Waialua Sugar on O‘ahu as factory engineer. He was factory superintendent at McBryde Sugar Company, and consulted in the production and manufacturing of sugar on Maui, Sudan, Jamaica and the Dominican Republic.
Prior to his sugar plantation engineer work, he served in the U.S. Coast Guard and the Navy Reserve. He was a WWII and Korean War veteran.
He was preceded in death by parents Ronald and Clara Smith, wife Ruth Smith and brother Quentin Smith.
He is survived by sons and daughters Stephen (Margaret) Smith of Lawa‘i, Barry (Claudette) Smith of Hawai‘i Island, Laurie Smith-Wishard of Lawa‘i, David (Sylvia) Smith of Lawa‘i, grandchildren Chelsea (Vinny Boiser Jr.) Smith-Wishard, Saian Smith and Eamon Smith, and great-grandsons Vyka Boiser and Legend Boiser.
He will be cremated and interred with his wife Ruth at Punchbowl Memorial Cemetery on a future date. A celebration of life is also expected be held on Kaua‘i at a future date.

Steven Hirano
Steven Hirano, 79, of Lihu‘e, passed away on July 15, 2022. He was born on April 21, 1943, in Lihu‘e. He was the proprietor of Kaua‘i Screen Prints.
He was preceded in death by son Gregory Steven Hirano.
He is survived by daughters Theresa (Warren) Hirano and Jennifer A. Cartwright, companion Linda Anne Michelle Donley, grandchildren Daniel (Kierra) Perry-Cartwright, Kendra (Chayton) Rapozo and Tyson Carinio, four great-grandchildren, brothers Gordon T. (Princess) Hirano and Gerald Hirano, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life is Saturday, Aug. 27, at Kalapaki Beach, beginning at 11 a.m. Scattering of ashes will follow.

Rawlins Lake Wills, 72, of Kapa‘a, passed away in his home on Aug. 6, 2022. He was born on Sept. 13, 1949, in Kailua, Hawai‘i. He worked as a mailing equipment technician at Pitney Bowes.
He was preceded in death by wife Rhonda Wills, parents Charles and Alice Wills, brothers John (Kathleen) Cavaco and Charles (Debra) Wills Jr. and sister Barralyn Wills.
He is survived by children Rawlins Nahina Wills, Kathleen (Monico) Hernandez-Martinez and Robert John (Lulu) Wills, siblings Leota, Alberta, Darrell, Elizabeth, Marnette, Wayne, Louis, David, May, Melvin, Charles Albert and Eric, grandchildren Robbie-Lee Wills-Perreira, Sierra Hernandez, Caleb McFadden, Kira (Joshua Keale-Ho) Wills, Sienna Hernandez-Martinez and Santana Hernandez-Martinez, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held in the future.
