“They’ll be here in a few minutes,” said Grove Farm’s Beau Acoba Saturday, triggering kumu hula Leina‘ala Pavao Jardin and Halau Ka Lei Mokihana O Leina‘ala to gather lei besides the Merrie Monarch Lokalia Montgomery Overall Award for the lei greeting for University of Hawai‘i coach Charlie Wade and the men’s volleyball players at the Grove Farm Market in Puhi.

One of the last things kumu hula Leina‘ala Pavao Jardin told her dancers before hitting the stage of the Merrie Monarch Festival was “Make them feel Kaua‘i.”
