KAPA‘A — The Kapa‘a Public Library is nearly 70 years old.
Due to climate change and its impact on sea level rise, the library needs to be relocated.
The Hawai‘i State Public Library System has completed a preliminary evaluation of alternative sites and has identified a desirable location at the southern-most portion of the Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital campus.
HSPLS is seeking input from the community and encourages all who use the Kapa’a Public Library to participate in a short survey at https://arcg.is/nbXe4
Survey participants may choose to be entered into a drawing for a $100 gas card.

Sorry, but it should be rebuilt where it is (with flood mitigation taken onto account). It is a beautiful location for residents to enjoy. All the state wants to do is turn it into a free parking lot for the hordes of tourists coming here, next on the list is getting rid of the community center and pool. Soon there will be no seaside locations for residents to enjoy. Kauai is slowing losing it’s special feeling and becoming Oahu/the mainland.
