LIHU‘E — The National Day of Prayer belongs to all Americans, states the National Day of Prayer website, and Shirley Dobson, the NDP chair emeritus.
“We have lost many of our freedoms in America because we have been asleep,” Dobson said on the website. “I feel if we do not become involved and support the annual National Day of Prayer, we could end up forfeiting this freedom, too.”
Dely Sasaki of the office of Kaua‘i Island Ministries is inviting people to an NDP “Exalt the Lord” 71st National Day of Prayer today starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Kaua‘i Veterans Center in Lihu‘e.
“Pastor Steve Franks and Minister Victoria Franks of King’s Chapel Kaua‘i will open the event with uplifting worship starting at 6:30 p.m.,” Sasaki said.
“Please join us on Kaua‘i (the westernmost point of America) at the Kaua‘i Veterans Center to observe the 71st National Day of Prayer. We have the tremendous privilege of coming together in unity to contend for the soul of our nation in prayer.”
Sasaki said while Kaua‘i will be hosting a Day of Prayers in the morning in the rotunda of the Lihu‘e Civic Center Mo‘ikeha Building, the National Day of Prayer group asked Kaua‘i Island Ministries, a network of more than 31 churches on Kaua‘i, to host a “sunset” event.
“From the sunrise in Maine to the sunset on Kaua‘i, from state to state and community to community, millions of men and women just like you and me will gather on May 5 to spend time on our knees, interceding and travailing in fervent prayer for our nation, and its leaders,” Sasaki said.
“As 2 Chronicles 7:14 reminds us, when we ‘humble ourselves and pray, and seek His face, and turn from our wicked ways’, then He will ‘hear from heaven, forgive our sins and heal our land.’”
